This past weekend I attended an awesome women’s conference.  It was just me, the Lord, and oh, 11,000 other women!  The speakers were Kay Arthur, Beth Moore and Priscilla Shirer.  It was a great time of teaching and worship and I’m so glad that I went.

Priscilla spoke on Ephesians 3:20-21.  It reads:

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.”

She did a great job explaining this whole passage but I was particularly impressed with how she explained “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.”  She said that God is able to do “beyond….beyond” anything we can imagine.  She illustrated this in two ways.

First, she mentioned that she bought an inexpensive telescope for her sons to be able to see the stars a little closer.  While this is fun, if she were to take them to NASA to use their telescope, it would be way beyond what they can see with their Wal-Mart telescope.  But even with all of that technology, there are still galaxies out there that we cannot see.  These galaxies are beyond….beyond!

Then she talked about a friend whose husband is lacking in the gift giving department.  Her friend had a birthday coming up and all she wanted was a card.  If she could just get a card, then she’d be happy.  Her birthday arrived and there was a card on her pillow….and a box!  When she opened the box, it was …. an umbrella.  But still, there was a box so it was beyond what she had expected.  However, when she opened the card there was a note inside that said, “I hear it’s rainy this time of year in Paris!”.  Beyond….beyond.

The God that we serve is a big God!  Bigger than we can imagine.  Are your prayers limited by your image of God?  Maybe you think that your problems are so minor compared to those around you.  This may be true but He wants to hear from us.  Talking to God about the little things keeps us in fellowship with Him.  Also remember, however, that God not only wants to hear our requests but also our praise, our thanks, and our confessions.
