What a great way to start the day! I had blueberries in my oatmeal, my beverage (coffee, of course!) and my BSF notes all enjoyed outside on the screened in porch.

There is, however, one “B” missing….my Bible. While my BSF notes are biblically-based, they are not a substitute for reading God’s Word directly. By the way, for those of you who don’t know, BSF stands for Bible Study Fellowship.

I heard something this weekend as I was driving back from Maryland. I won’t get the quote exactly right but it went something like this:

“If you spend more time reading about the news and current events than you do God’s Word, it is not surprising that you are anxious and fretful. If you spend more time with entertainment (i.e. Facebook!) than in God’s Word it is not surprising that you are dull and joyless. Things of God seem boring to you. God is not boring!” — very loosely quoted from a sermon by Robin Boisvert given May 6, 2012.

I am excited to delve into the book of Matthew during this BSF year which starts tonight! I will close with this verse which is the theme for the week:

“It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” Matthew 4:4

Have a great day!
