My most embarrassing moment to date happened when I was a senior in college.  The Accounting Club had a networking event at an upscale restaurant near the college.  It was an opportunity to meet area professionals and get a feel for the job market as we approached graduation.  Of course we had to dress professionally.  My business attire included a clutch-type purse (one without handles).

Early in the evening I proceeded to the bar to get a drink.  I set my clutch purse on the bar.  In an effort to pick up both my drink and the purse, I tucked the purse under my arm.  Little did I know I also tucked under my arm the table runner covering the bar.  As I began to walk away, peanuts and pretzels went flying everywhere.  It took me a few seconds to realize that I was the reason the bartender was grabbing at all the various things heading for the floor!  Thankfully people were mingling about and didn’t pay much attention but I could have died!  I was nervous as it was and trying to make a good impression.  It is funny now but not at the time.

It amazes me to what lengths we will go to try and impress others.  I spend a lot of time concerned about what others think of me.  The sad thing is I am probably wrong most of the time anyway.  I should spend a lot more time working to please God than any person.  So, how does one please God?  The answer is found in Micah 6:8:

“He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.”

Of course this is easier said than done, but with His help he will enable us to do just that.  Will you seek to please Him today?

Have a great day!
