Today is Maundy Thursday. If you are not sure what that is, there is a good explanation and article here.  Click Here

As I was reading my Lent devotional this morning I read this:  “Jesus lived the life we should have lived and died the death we should have died, so that God can adopt us into his family.”  It reminded me of a song {surprise!} entitled “Upon A Life I Did Not Live.”  It was written by Horatius Bonar in the 1800’s.  Keep this in mind as you read the lyrics.

1. Upon a life I have not lived,
Upon a death I did not die,
Another’s life; Another’s death,
I stake my whole eternity.

2. Not on the tears which I have shed,
Not on the sorrows I have known,
Another’s tears; Another’s griefs,
On these I rest, on these alone.

Chorus:
O Jesus, Son of God, I build on what Thy cross has done for me;
There both my life and death I read, my guilt, and pardon there I see.

3. Lord, I believe; O deal with me,
As one who has Thy Word believed!
I take the gift, Lord, look on me,
As one who has Thy gift received. (Chorus)

Now you know why I thought of this song!  And, as an added treat you can listen here:  Listen Here

I will close with this verse from Romans:

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, ‘For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.’ No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord”

(Romans 8:35-39).

Hopefully more tomorrow as I reflect on Good Friday.
