Yes, I know it has been a while. I have a lot of ideas rolling around in my head and I’ve certainly been learning plenty of lessons over the last few months. However, they have been just for me at this point.
I had an especially meaningful quiet time this morning. I think the best way to describe it is “cleansing.” I confessed some things, cried a lot and wrote. I was/am drained physically, emotionally and spiritually. But in a good way.
As I was leaving for work I glanced down at the stream in our back yard and there were several deer wandering by. I just stood there and watched them for a few minutes allowing the beauty of them to soothe my soul. What came to mind was the praise song called “As the Deer” by Martin Nystrom based on Psalm 42. I listened to it while on my way to work.
As you read these lyrics my prayer is that this truth will flood your soul as it did mine….and that you will find comfort.
As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after Thee
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee.
You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee.
You’re my friend and You are my brother
Even though You are a King
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.
You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee.
I want You more than gold or silver,
only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joygiver
and the apple of my eye.
You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee
